When choosing a soldering station, you should first consider the size of the components to be soldered and the amount of work. For typical electronics assembly and repair, a temperature-controlled soldering station is often sufficient, while larger components and joints that require a lot of heat benefit from a more powerful station. A hot air station is used especially for removing and installing surface-mount components.
The size and shape of the tip should be matched to the workpiece. A small conical tip is suitable for precise work, while a wider chisel tip transfers heat more effectively to larger joints. Always also check that the tip is compatible with your ATTEN soldering station or soldering iron handle.
