Which fiber optic meter do I need? An optical power meter can be used to check the signal level of the fiber connection. A VFL, or visual fault locator, helps find, for example, fiber breaks and poor connectors, while a PON meter is used to measure passive optical networks. When choosing, consider the wavelength used, fiber type, connectors and measurement range.
