Raspberry Pi 5 is more than twice as fast as the previous model and uses Broadcom's BCM2712 chip, with four 2.4 GHz Arm Cortex-A76 processor cores and an 800 MHz VideoCore VII GPU capable of OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2 graphics. It should provide a significant improvement in graphics performance.

In addition, the device can drive two 4K 60 Hz displays simultaneously with HDR via the HDMI ports.

The Raspberry Pi 5 includes a brand-new, Raspberry Pi Foundation–designed component called the RP1 southbridge, which is part of the chipset. Its role is to communicate with peripheral devices. The new component enables faster data transfer between peripherals and the Raspberry Pi.

The motherboard also includes a dedicated power button.
