The Raspberry CM5 compute module card is broadly compatible with CM4 compute module carrier boards, but check the carrier board designed for CM4 before use. The form factor is the same 55 x 40 mm and the board uses the same 100-pin HD connectors. The Broadcom BCM2712 SoC found on Raspberry Pi 5 boards is more powerful than its predecessor BCM2711 from the Pi 4. One notable difference is a higher-performance PCIe Gen 2.0 interface.
