The display is driven by an SSD1107 chip that supports both I2C and SPI interfaces. Because the OLED requires 3.3V and 12V supplies, the board includes an integrated 3.3V regulator and a 12V boost converter. Additionally, all pins are level-shifted, so the display works with both 3V and 5V systems. For easy prototyping the board has a SparkFun Qwiic-compatible STEMMA QT connector for the I2C bus – just plug in the cable and you’re ready to test. (QT cable not included.)

Please note that the display requires 2 KB of SRAM for the display buffer, so it is not suitable for small controllers like the Arduino UNO (ATmega328 or 32u4). We recommend controllers with at least 16 KB of RAM, such as SAMD21, SAMD51, ESP, nRF52 or Teensy. The display can be used with I2C or SPI – SPI is faster, but I2C uses fewer pins.

Arduino and CircuitPython libraries are available for the display.
