The LVX logic family is suitable as a voltage-level translator from older 5V to newer 3V systems. It also basically works in 5V systems. In many newer microcontrollers the IO pins cannot tolerate 5V input signals directly, but the 3V CMOS output levels are able to drive the 5V TTL/CMOS inputs of older chips.
